Season report The
progress of the side has been
hampered by the now traditional
early season bad weather, with
many games being washed out, most
of which we could have been
expected to win. This was
compounded by the late withdrawl
of two sides from the league, and
as you would know it , on the
evenings that we were due to play
them, we were blessed with
glorious weather. In the games
that were played, we progressed
to the third round of the Suburu
National Under 13 competition,
having disposed easily of County
League side Macclesfield in the
second round. Unfortunately we
reserved our worst performance of
the season for the third round
game at Middlewich, where we were
beaten by 7 wickets having been
bowled out for only 47.
However
the spirit of the boys was
illustrated the following night
when they bounced back to bowl
out Ashton for only 32, going on
to win by 10 wickets. Ironically
2 of the best performances of the
season ended in defeats against
very strong Timperley and
Didsbury teams. There were
though, good wins against Hale
Barns and Whalley Range. The boys
also took part in the annual
Chelford festival where, blessed
with glorious weather, the boys
aquitted themselves well against
Poynton and Oxton, before losing,
and beating our own Under 12s! In
general the bowling and fielding
were exemplary,but unfortunately
on occasions the batting lacked
both technique and application.
Leading run scorers were Richard
Murray with 101 and Tim Jenkins
with 87. Top bowlers were James
Barratt with 9 wickets and Andrew
Mountford with 8.
